Tropical grass that can grow 5-6 ft (1.5-1.8 m) tall. The stems are canelike and the leaves are grayish green, flat, about 3 ft (0.9 m) long and 1 in (2.5 cm) or so wide. |

Increasing the secretion of gastric juices (leaf); As emmenagogue, helps with gastro-intestinal distress including stomach ache and colitis, intestinal parasites, rheumatism, arthritis pain, cold and flu (Essential plant oil) |
| Contraindication |
|
|
Can cause dermatitis from contact with citronella grass or lemongrass, particularly the concentrated oils. Inhaling the essential oils of citronella may increase heart rate in some people. |
