A shrub or small tree, 12.0-18.0 m in height, with a girth of 3.6-4.5 m. Two or three varieties are differentiated by the colour of bark, which may be black, white or mottled. Leaves coriaceous, 5.0-7.5 cm long, elliptic-oblong or obovate-oblong, glabrous above and tomentose beneath; flowers dingy yellow in small heads or in trichotomous corymbs; capsules 2.5-3.75 cm long, ovoid, compressed, beaked; seeds completely fitting the fruits, often germinating on the tree. |
